Organization and project management were critical to the timely completion of the Rock Bottom Brewery and Restaurant, requiring around-the-clock schedule for seven weeks.
10,000 ft microbrewery with 418 seats located inside Ballston Common Mall, Arlington, VA. Construction required specific detailed coordination of fire rated metal-bestos mechanical shaft, which penetrated Movie Theater above Rock Bottom space and ultimately terminated at roof, 5 stories above restaurant. High-end finishes included 2-mahogany and oak bars and paneled knee wall. Interior mall entrance with exposed cedar, porcelain tiles and Colorado sandstone accentuated interior finishes.
Crossection worked to ensure that the tank rooms were built and operational ahead of all other activity so that inspections were satisfied and the brewing process could begin in preparation for opening night. A custom designed kitchen hood and exhaust system accommodated unique constraints in the layout and building.
Construction schedule was integrated with Movie Theater Projection Room fit out to avoid opening delays. Interface of full service brewery with extensive millwork & finishes located inside a mall posed several challenging scenarios.
